my mom raised us as witnesses, and finally left the wts after we grew up and left the house.
my dad left after too.
now my mom is so sorry about it all, and how we had to live, with my father an elder, the strictness, and of course all the things that a good witness family could not do.. how many of you raised your kids as witnesses?

I was raised as a witness and I turned out quite alright! A law abiding citizen, if you will. Cant remember ever celebrating any birthdays or holidays. Still can't take part in any politics, which may upset some people.
Consider myself a pretty nice, trustworthy person.

i've been dating a jw for almost 3 1/2 years - about a month ago i found out that 3 elders from my boyfriend's kingdom hall we're going to have a meeting with my boyfriend about dating me.
when i asked why this meeting was going to take place, my boyfriend said that it was because he was dating someone who isn't a jehovah's witness.
this really hurt me, and it hurt even more when i found out that they had already talked to him once before, and he did not tell me about it.

The elders will just remind him of the scripture of marrying only 'in the lord', meaning a 'believer', meaning another witness.
He should stick to the fact that he's hopelessly in love with you and to tell them about your wonderful qualities, and that this is no a platonic relationship but rather his intentions being honorable and that he means to marry you in the near future.
He'll have a few silly privileges taken away temporarily, but not to worry, they'll come back in time.

I suspect that pretty soon I'll stop posting and coming to this site altogether because I find it all to be so redundant and small in nature.
People here are somewhat sickly obsessed with the Jehovah's Witnesses and their behavior, and there's no need for that!
Let's say that someone didn't agree with a religious organization, that there's nothing in it for them, that it doesn't satisfy what they're in search of, well, in that case then leave and continue on with new chapters in your life. Simple!!!
I mean, why continue marinating in discontent and bitterness?! Completely pointless.
Then I've tried entering the chat room thinking something interesting and profound is going on there, but what I find is an obscene bunch! Come now, no wonder the vast majority of you all didn't fit in!
So, yeah, that's my answer to your question.

some might think that heaven is the final destiny, while other may just believe in this short life and nothing else.

If in the end the Jehovah's Witnesses are right, then for keeping up this double life/balancing act going, I'm sure I will not be participating. As a consolation to me, if they're right, I'll just be asleep in death and God knows I do love to sleep a whole lot!
If they're wrong, then it'll be most exciting to see what high powers have in store for mankind.
I live life for its possibilities now, because the future is very uncertain.

I stand by my comment. We're just regular people that have ups & downs just like anyone else.
So their theory is different that the rest, and a few predictions have failed, so what?!!! We're still just people trying to satisfy a spiritual need, etc. JUST PEOPLE!!!!!!!!
Go and investigate any other group of people and you'll find the same instances as you do in the witnesses crowd.
Don't obsess too much with just this one group.

I consider them, well 'ourselves' really since I'm still an active JW, no happier or more frustrated than any one group of people.
It's a very different lifestyle and quite different belief system but, should anyone choose to live by their rules, still they'll continue to be people.... with feelings, challenges, struggles, you know, daily ups and downs.
Plenty of people quite happy with their choice to be witnesses that play according to their 'rules', and others such as myself find happiness playing the 'double life' balancing act game, and yet others find said happiness leaving the religion.
Happiness is where people find it!

the word 'lifestyle' gets tossed around these days.
yet, i still cringe when i. hear some describe being in the organization as a 'lifestyle'.. i suppose anything that eats up the precious currency of your life could be called.

today i had the day off from my job.
my plan today was to put gas in my car, wash my car, and go to the nearest ford dealership to get my oil changed.

Wow! Have you looked into getting professional help?
Being a real born loner, I can identify a little bit with not liking a whole lot of people around; but your case sounds much more than just 'choosing' not to want to be with crowds.
I do not enjoy at all being in crowds, but I force myself constantly to deal with it, and that I've had to do because I have to attend frequent religious meetings and big assemblies 3 times per year, so I'm forced to deal with crowds constantly. I've gotten pretty good, though. People I've told that I'm somewhat shy and prefer to be by myself have a hard time believing it because I put on such a good act when needed.
So, Gilwarrior, it can be done. Keep trying!
